Who we are
Glance is a Mac app made by Mahtca Global (“we”). This policy explains what the Glance app and this website do with information. If anything here is unclear, write to glance@mahtca.com.
Information Glance collects
None. Glance does not collect any data from you or your Mac, and we never receive anything it shows you. The app is built without network access, so it has no way to send information anywhere.
Window previews
- When you point at an app in the Dock, or press the Glance shortcut, Glance captures small images of that app’s windows to show you as previews.
- These images are processed on your Mac and kept only in memory, for as long as they’re useful. They are never saved to disk and never uploaded.
- Glance reads only what it needs to show and switch windows: each window’s title, position, size and whether it is minimized. It never reads your documents or what you type.
Permissions
Screen Recording
Screen Recording (called Screen & System Audio Recording in newer versions of macOS) lets Glance recognise which app you’re pointing at in the Dock, make window previews and show window titles. Glance explains this before macOS asks, and it works only on your Mac.
Automation
The first time you pick a window in an app, macOS may ask whether Glance can control that app. Allowing it lets Glance bring that exact window to the front, restore it if it’s minimized, and minimize or close it when you choose to. Glance uses this only to manage windows — never to read their contents.
Not requested
Glance does not ask for Accessibility, Input Monitoring, Full Disk Access, files and folders, camera, microphone, contacts or location.
Settings stored on your Mac
Glance remembers your preferences, such as your shortcut and preview delay, in your Mac’s standard preferences storage. To count the free tier’s daily switches and remember a Glance Pro purchase, it also keeps a small record on your Mac. None of this leaves your Mac.
Purchases
Glance Pro is an in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through the Mac App Store. We never receive your payment details or your Apple Account information. Apple’s handling of purchases is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Diagnostics
If you have chosen in macOS to share crash data with app developers, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports under Apple’s own terms. They contain no window images.
Children
Glance does not collect information from anyone, including children.
This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. Like any website, the server that hosts it may briefly keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver pages and keep them secure. The Mac App Store badge is loaded from Apple’s servers, which receive the standard information your browser sends when loading an image.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
