Getting started
- Download Glance from the Mac App Store and open it. A short setup shows you around.
- Choose Allow Screen Access and turn on Glance when macOS asks. If Glance offers to restart, let it — setup continues where you left off.
- Point at any app in your Dock. Its windows appear above it. Click the one you want.
Troubleshooting
Nothing appears when I point at the Dock
Open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording (Screen Recording on macOS Sonoma) and turn on Glance. Then quit and reopen Glance — macOS applies the change only after the app relaunches. Also check that Dock Hover is on in Glance’s menu bar menu. Apps without open windows show nothing.
macOS asks whether Glance can control an app
This happens the first time you pick a window in that app. Choose Allow so Glance can bring that exact window to the front. If you chose Don’t Allow, you can change it in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Automation, or from Glance’s Settings › Permissions.
A preview says the app only lets Glance open its front window
Some apps don’t let other apps choose their windows. For those, Glance opens the front window exactly and labels the others honestly, so you’re never taken somewhere you didn’t expect.
Using the keyboard
Press ⌥G to show the windows of the app you’re using. Keep holding ⌥ and tap G to move through them, or use the arrow keys. Return opens the selected window, holding Space enlarges its preview, and Esc closes Glance. You can change the shortcut in Settings.
Previews open too fast or too slowly
In Settings, set the preview delay to Fast, Default or Relaxed.
The free switches ran out
The free version includes 7 switches a day to windows that aren’t an app’s front window. The count starts again at midnight. Previews and switching to an app’s front window are always free. Glance Pro removes the limit.

When you write to us
It helps to include your macOS version, your Glance version (Glance › About Glance), where your Dock is and a short description of what happened.
